Automation supplier Fanuc America officially unveiled its new 650,000-square-foot West Campus facility in Auburn Hills, Mich., on July 10.

Representing a US$110-million investment on 67 acres of land, it increases the company’s footprint within Michigan to more than 2 million square feet.

“This expansion represents our growth strategy and steadfast commitment to the future of the automation and robotics industry,” Mike Cicco, president and CEO, said in a statement. “While manufacturers continue to adapt to changing market demands, our ongoing upward trajectory allows us to better support our customers with robotic and automation solutions, helping to drive more efficiency across all industries.”

The West Campus supports advanced product manufacturing and customized automation systems and includes warehouse space for more than 6,000 robots and tens of thousands of parts.

Since 2019, Fanuc has spent more than US$187 million on new buildings, including a 461,000-square-foot North Campus facility in Michigan and headquarters in both Canada and Mexico. The company says its next plan is to renovate a former law school on the site of the West Campus to create the Fanuc Academy, an automation customer training centre.
